Climate Change Is Real

If you’re like us, you often struggle to determine fact vs. fiction when it comes to environmental issues. We’re here to help explain one of the most debated topics around nature today: climate change. It’s very real, and it threatens how we as humans will interact with our planet in the future.
Below is a quick explainer on what climate change is, and simple steps you can take to help:

What is climate change?
In basic terms, climate change is a long-term adjustment in the earth’s average temperatures. We’re observing that the Earth’s surface is warming, causing higher-than-average temperatures and unnatural seasons. While we can and should expect for this to happen to a certain degree, the rate of increase over recent years is much higher than we’ve anticipated. This is causing dramatic conditions in certain regions of the world, and often creating unpredictable weather changes.

What causes climate change?
While there are several contributing factors, human activities are often considered the most damaging. Certain activities such as burning fuel or operating buses are changing our natural greenhouse, and the Earth is being trapped in more heat than it is used to. This leads to a warmer planet and causes the dramatic changes we’re seeing today, like ice caps melting abruptly.

What can I do to help?
Climate change is undoubtedly a planet-wide issue. It’s going to take adjustments on a massive scale to help tackle the issue, but there are small changes we can make in our daily routines to help:
  1. Walk, bike, or take public transportation when possible
  2. Power your home with energy-efficient appliances. Even changing to LED lightbulbs can make a difference
  3. Reuse and recycle whenever possible
